Anybody can claim their product is 'certified,' but, with all due respect to Shakespeare, sometimes words are not enough. They certainly are not enough for us at Enso Discoveries. When we decided to use our connections to import medical masks, the first thing we did was educate ourselves on the internationally recognized standards.
The standards vary based on type of mask as well as by country. Medical masks tend to come in one of two general types.
The first is the pleated surgical mask. This is the mask that, prior to COVID, has been worn in every OR(Operating Room) in the country with very few exceptions.
The other is the N95/KN95. This is referred to as a respirator rather than a mask. Regardless of type, each is subject to a series of tests in order to be validated.
For example, some of the tests for validation include:
- Bacterial Filtration Efficiency
- Synthetic Blood Penetration
- Flammability test
Enso has a relationship with two factories for mask production. Both are registered with the FDA as manufacturers of medical devices and, more importantly, both were independently tested by the CDC.
Those test results were made public and demonstrated that: there are some substandard masks coming out of China and both of our factories exceeded the 95% filtration efficiency test (in fact, they both exceeded 97%).
At Enso Discoveries, we only import masks that have met European Union and/or American standards. Each mask has a certificate and we validate each one as authentic.

Basic Instruction for Use
1. Wash hands before handling the mask.
2. Remove the mask from the packaging and inspect for any defects/tears.
3. Open the mask by pulling the ends of the metal bar apart.
4. Holding the mask by the ear loops, pull the mask onto your face with the metal strip up and place a loop over each ear (if you wear glasses, remove them for this step).
5. Ensure mask fully covers your nose and mouth.
6. Gently bend down the metal bars on the sides of your nose until snug.
7. Perform a fit check to ensure there is a good seal against the skin.
